Important Literary Mission from National Youth Book Conference : Creating Young Readers #nbcc

“The greatest gift is a passion for reading.”

Soliciting Your Help. . .

As We Re-Launch The National Youth Book Conference to Bring Black Authors and Give Books To Underserved Students

Book Lover:
The image above features 11-year-old Zariya Cherry from Houston, an author and speaker whose subject matter in her books and congenial nature make her an ideal person for us to highlight as we re-launch the National Youth Book Conference (www.nationalybc.com), a fiscally sponsored program of United Charitable, a registered 501(c)3 organization.
The NYBC, a sister organization of the National Book Club Conference, was created to inspire the next generation of avid readers and potential authors. The NYBC program is multi-tiered to make the maximum impact. We need your help to make this happen.
Zariya will speak to elementary students of Georgia Preparatory School outside of Atlanta on November 10th. The NYBC will fly in Zariya and her mom; put them up for a night in a hotel; supply copies of Zariya’s books that will sign for 25 students, provide snacks and an NYBC t-shirt like the one below. This costs money, of course.
So, today, we are launching a two-week fund-raising campaign to begin shaping young minds into young readers, ending on October 23rd. We need you help!!!
Which book club will donate the most? We will acknowledge that group and send it complimentary books as a show of appreciation–and help connect that group with the author to have him/her join your book club meeting. How’s that?
We will do the same for the individual who graciously contributes the most to this amazing cause. Please click here to make your tax-deductible donation.
Ultimately, the NYBC program, in a fun and interactive way, helps create young readers and writers. Richard Robinson, Chairman, President and CEO of Scholastic, Inc. said: “When children read widely and often, they develop higher-order thinking skills called for by (today’s) new standard. Reading helps them to feel optimistic and to see a world in which they can reach higher and fulfill their dreams.”
Our kids need that more than ever, as the movement to remove books by us, for and about us, gains momentum. This will not work without you. And as avid readers and caring people, I am confident we will make a difference in countless youths’ lives. No amount of donation is too small.
Please help us by clicking here. I will share with you how much your donations added up to on October 24th.
Thanking you in advance.Peace and blessings,CURTIS
